Welcome to Buddy Williams

Buddy Williams developed a style of singing, writing and picking guitar which is unique and profoundly Australian.

Almost as famous for his ready grin, the space between his front teeth, and being a crack shot with a rifle, Buddy toured and recorded consistantly for forty-seven years until his death in 1986.

A performer who loved nothing better than stepping out onstage and taking his music to the people, Buddy really was "The Last Fair Dinkum Outback Australian Entertainer".

When he ventured into the city, usually to record another album, he didn't disappoint fans there either, taking time out to do a TV show, a video clip, or perform at venues like The Hordern Pavillion in Sydney for Unicef in 1972.

During his career, Buddy was referred to as "the living legend" due largely to his huge contribution to the Country Music industry.

Today he is referred to as "the pioneer", "the father of the industry", or "the legendary BW" - all accolades he'd enjoy, but when people asked him, he'd simply say, "I'm a showman".

Welcome to this website, where we hope you'll enjoy the stories and photographs about the life of a pioneer, father, legend, husband, mate and a great showman.
